Ski racer

JR is taking skiing lessons again this winter. He picked up just about where he left off and was able to ski down the bunny slope with Dad after day one. He's catching on quickly and having fun. And the hot chocolate breaks aren't bad either!

Spelunker

JR put together this spelunking outfit after we watched a YouTube video on cave exploring. Lego spaceman flashlight and all. Very cool.

Südtirol

We went to the Italian province of Südtirol/Alto Adige this weekend and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and Christmas markets in Meran/Merano, despite the chilly temperatures. The cable car up to Oberbozen and train ride at 4000 ft were big hits with the boys. And the Christmas market in Bozen/Bolzano was Jill's favorite. I enjoyed learning about the history of the area which passed from Austria to Italy at the conclusion of WWII, but retains its Austrian character and now has a large degree of autonomy from the Italian government.

A fall outing

We went for a drive yesterday to a nature area and cave in the nearby Vittorio Veneto area. The boys enjoyed their adventure "exploring" the cave and the gorge.
