Go Army!

I returned to my Rockbound Highland Home this weekend, with family in tow. The weather was cold and rainy for the game on Saturday, but the boys toughed it out. Army played poorly and lost but the boys enjoyed the experience, especially meeting the Army mules. Go Army! Beat Navy!

Fort Ticonderoga

We checked out Fort Ticonderoga today, the location of the "first American victory of the Revolutionary War."  First victory because three weeks after Lexington and Concord Ethan Allen (and Benedict Arnold (tooey)) captured the lightly-defended fort and its at cannon (pl.) in the early morning hours without a shot being fired. Great success for the Green Mountain Boys!

Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!

82 degrees today in Vermont. Enjoying the pool while we can!

Mom delivered our four-legged friend on Friday and spent the long weekend with us. We went canoeing on a nearby lake on Friday and spent yesterday checking out Burlington, including having some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. She heads back tomorrow then we're back to business as usual with the school year underway.

Best wishes,
Tom

Creamees

Maple creamees with Grandma and Granddad on the waterfront in Burlington. Joey went for chocolate though -- wanted the sure thing to help him forget about being stung by a bee earlier. It worked like magic.

Assumption of Command

Pictures from Tuesday's assumption of command ceremony.  Tom is now the squadron commander of the 315th Fighter Squadron, an active duty squadron integrated with the Vermont Air National Guard's 158th Fighter Wing.  Green Mountain Boys!

Happy in Vermont

It's not gelato, but Joey likes his chocolate creemee just fine.

Malta

We just returned from Spring Break, which we spent in Malta, where it was sunny and 75 the whole week. A nice change after the cloudy, rainy weather we've had here lately. We had the good fortune to stay at an apartment of friends of Jill's family. It was a great chance to see a small island nation with a rich and unique history. Knights and fortresses and sun and sand.. What more could you want?

Another anniversary..

..another awesome anniversary mustache pic!

Family visit

We were happy to have a chance to spend time with my brother, Jim, and his family last week and show them our little corner of Italy. On the last day of their visit we took a stroll through the local town, Polcenigo, and stopped for gelato.

Geared up to ski

Getting ready for a swim

Joey's 3rd Birthday

We spent Joey's 3rd Birthday at Ramstein AB since Tom had a TDY there last week. It was very near where he was born, coincidently. He chose to go bowling and have pizza for his birthday. And he picked out the minion balloon too, of course. :)

Happy Birthday, Joey!

Zugspitze

We went skiing in Garmisch this week. Here's a view of the Zugspitze area, a glacier at 9000'. What a place to ski!

Lego creation

Look what JR built with his Legos! Ewoks vs. Storm Troopers. This was all from his imagination, assembled from assorted pieces without instructions. Pretty good for a kid who's never seen Star Wars!

F-16 selfie

Crossing the pond, 12.4 hour sortie.

Ski racer

JR is taking skiing lessons again this winter. He picked up just about where he left off and was able to ski down the bunny slope with Dad after day one. He's catching on quickly and having fun. And the hot chocolate breaks aren't bad either!
